Gion & Higashiyama Timeless Tradition 
Old Kyoto at its most cinematic — lantern-lit lanes, wooden machiya teahouses, and the chance of a geiko slipping to an appointment at dusk. The Higashiyama hills above hold the city’s most beloved temples, and our venue sits right at their edge.

Pontochō & Kiyamachi Lantern-lit Nightlife 
Kyoto’s most atmospheric night out — a single lantern-lined lane barely wide enough for two, running between the river and the Kiyamachi canal. Packed end to end with izakaya, cocktail dens and intimate kappo counters.

Downtown & Nishiki Market & Bustle 
The commercial heart of the city (Nakagyō) — anchored by Nishiki Market, “Kyoto’s Kitchen,” and threaded with covered shopping arcades, department stores and the densest run of restaurants and bars in town.

Kamogawa Riverside Riverside & Shopping 
The Kamo River is Kyoto’s living room — locals picnic and stroll its banks year-round, and the couples-spaced-evenly-along-the-water thing is real. The Kawaramachi side is the main shopping and transit hub.

Arashiyama Bamboo & River 
A half-day escape on Kyoto’s western edge — the towering bamboo grove, the Ōi River beneath Togetsukyō bridge, and temple gardens climbing into the hills. Go early to beat the crowds.

Northern Higashiyama Serene Temples 
Quieter, greener and contemplative — the canal-side Philosopher’s Path, silver and golden pavilions, and hillside gardens well away from the downtown bustle. The city’s most restorative half-day.
